7 Things You'll Never Forget About ADIT

ADIT is not as popular as IITs or NITs, but something about this institute certainly makes it unique. Surrounded by lavish green fields, blessed by a lake; this college not only make engineers, but make memories of lifetime. Gathering views from several ADITians, this article, in true sense, is for ADIT from ADIT on ADIT !

1.      Foyer

Recall that moment when you first stepped in ADIT. The enormous, highly aired foyer surely had taken your breath. Excluding some branches, the foyer is a venue of Fresher’s and Farewell Party; the beginning and the end of the journey. Killing  free time by loitering, cramping at the bulletin boards to know the allotted class for exams, a couple of hours later again congregating to discuss the paper…Foyer is just not only a part of the college, it’s a confluence of all branches.

 2.      Departments

Next thing, after crossing the Foyer, you seek your department. Four years. Eight semesters. And a lot of fun. Snoozing, stifling yawns and making sure your eyes remain open during afternoon classes. Awkward moments when the professor catches you and questions about the topic you have no clue of. Last minute submission, surviving the vivas with answers that defies engineering laws and somehow convincing the professors that you’ll be regular from the next semester (which never occurs). No matter how many lectures you have bunked, but after 4 years, those moments at your department surely splits your face with a smile.

3.      Mess

After stuffing laws, theories and examples in mind, time comes to stuff something in your stomach. For the hostel people, there is one destination - Mess! Authority claims the food is hygienic, but it seems that they are actually experimenting on you, testing your survival ability. You peek into the vessel and wonder at the experimented food for a while, judging to eat or not. Seeing others, you finally fill your plate. Friday Feast is the actual day when you realize the hostel people are the hungriest people on the globe. Anyway, the mess provides an excuse to hang out with your friends to check out the restaurants of the city.

 4.      Sana Kaka – Hemant Bhai

God is kind or else there wouldn’t be Sana Kaka or Hemant Bhai, our saviours, in the campus. After risking the mess-ed food, to supress the roaring hunger our feet habitually move towards these two spots. Why these two? Well, many shops opens, attempts but shuts down for a reason or two, but you’ll always find crowd here. Tea, Coffee, Bournvita, Poha, Thepala, Bhakri….and the list goes on. 4 years would have been tasteless without them.

5.      Swapnaratri

Doesn't matter you know to groove on Garba beats or not, you simply miss everything for Swapnaratri! Dressed in traditional-wears, eyes sparkling with excitement, you become thrilled to spin and clap for this night. Though the fun lasts for a couple of hours, but one Swapnaratri surely equates the joy of nine nights of Navratris. You are good at Raas, brilliant! You can seize a prize. If dancing comes in the last things you wish to do, no worries, you’ll find people worse than you, but still enjoying the moments. And suddenly something, may be its folk music, drags you to the ground and your feet leaps carelessly, catching the rhythm. Your leg hurts, but you ignore; sweat drenches your clothes, but you ignore. The bliss of Swapnaratri overcomes everything. And when the end of the celebration is announced, deep down you wish to enjoy just one more hour.

 6.      Techfests

All branches, all years; in short, every person of ADIT unites to make this mega event - Techfest – phenomenal. From campaigning to marketing, volunteering to co-ordinating, everyone plays a vital role to uplift the level of the Techfest. Late night working on decorations, interacting with everyone; you finally find your place in the college.  People starts knowing you. And when the Techfest ends, the number of your Facebook friends incredibly increases.

 7.      Principal’s Speech

It’s difficult, almost impossible to forget our Principal’s speech on various occasions.
“My budding engineers!” The whole auditorium erupts into applause and cheers.
“Winning and losing is not important, what matter is participation.” His words of wisdom, just before or after a competition.
“Let’s have a cup of tea in my office.” Sounds like an offer, right? Ask the students who have managed events. They knew the true meaning of this line.

P.S. - Thanking everyone who have shared their views when I asked them.
